About Me

Ever since I can remember I’ve been ‘on the lookout’ for an excuse to have fun! As a small child growing up in PNG, there were few formal occasions which made all ceremonies ‘an occasion’ to me. (It’s no wonder I gravitated toward a career in Show Business!)

Prior to becoming a Celebrant, I worked as a producer in the entertainment business – in theatre, radio, film and television – which means I am quite used to public speaking.

This career enabled me to work overseas as well as in Australia and I’ve been lucky to have lived for a time in many of the world’s great cities, including London, Florence, Sydney, Fremantle, Singapore, HongKong, Chicago, New York and Buenos Aires.

Countries I have lived in: Papua New Guinea, Australia, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, USA, Argentina.

Living in several foreign cultures has given me an invaluable life experience. A fortune which allows me to appreciate cultural differences, distinct and discreet, and this is something I bring into my role as a Celebrant.

Having been confronted with immersion in foreign cultures myself affords me the skill to recognise quickly those moments when a link in the chain of communication has been broken for others, which could otherwise become a critical issue ‘on the day’ for foreign clients and their families.

Being aware that tradition is based on cultural ritual, it follows that I am highly sensitive to the rich variety of cultural protocols and desires of international ceremonies that exist.

Working in a leading position for a filmcrew is akin to moving a circus troupe around the world: a role that demands detailed advanced planning, exacting paperwork, co-operation on all levels and co-ordination to the fullest.

Being responsible for a show’s cast has allowed me to develop my ‘sixth sense’ about people and their unspoken needs in public situations. This has honed my natural instincts for ‘reading between the lines’ in human interactions and anticipating any potential concerns, often well ahead of even those concerned.

The extensive world travel my career has supported means I have highly developed skills in relating to people from all walks of life. One of the main attractions for me to the role of Celebrant is the chance to meet such a variety of people.

Oh how I do enjoy a celebration!

Thank you for being the celebrant at our wedding, you really helped make it a special day. We were really pleased at how efficient and helpful you were when preparing us for the ceremony. We felt as though you really cared for us throughout the whole experience.
