Knowing Peter, the Groom for over a decade and across 2 continents made this ceremony a special privilege for me.On the day, the desirable sunshine was abundant… and then a strong wind seemed to arrive from over the hill, about an hour prior to the start, as if invited to the event.
Both Bride & Groom are traditionalists and wished to follow the traditional ceremonial format – with one exception, their Wedding Vows. These they chose to write themselves, exclusive of each other, revealing them only to each other, their families and the guests at the Vows statement moment in the ceremony. Amidst the tears of joy these vows evoked were also some moments of hilarity, evidence of the harmony within this relationship.
This was a family-centric occasion, held in a vineyard close to the historic ‘coach town’ of Hahndorf, in the Adelaide Hills. The couple live in Melbourne, Zoe’s family are in Queensland and Peter’s family are in South Australia. There were 4 generations of the family in attendance for this wonderful occasion.
The 3 Bridesmaids, Nicala, Katrina and Roslyn were the Bride’s 3 sisters, each dressed exquisitely in gowns made by Ann, the Mother of the Bride! Peter’s close posse of handsome mates, Ben, Paul and Simon (a.k.a. Ramma, Pozza & Lewie) made up the Bridal party.
You can see the solid camaraderie we could feel amongst this supportive, loving crowd of well wishers.
